Our Provider Evaluation Process
1
Initial Certification Review:
At the outset, we thoroughly examine each provider's website in search of the relevant certifications. For example, for lactation consultants recommended through Cardamom, we require IBCLC certification as a fundamental prerequisite. Likewise, doulas are expected to hold either DONA certification or an equivalent certification. We proudly display these certifications alongside the provider's name in our referral lists, ensuring complete transparency.
2
Assessing Reputation:
Our commitment to excellence extends to researching the provider's reputation and experience. We scour various platforms, including Google reviews, Yelp, and any available testimonials, to gain insight into their history of working with families and birthing parents. This allows us to recommend only those with a proven track record of exceptional service.
3
Ensuring Active Availability:
The last step in our comprehensive vetting process involves confirming that the provider remains actively engaged in offering postpartum care services. We achieve this by attempting to schedule consultation appointments directly through their website. In cases where this is not feasible, we reach out to them through phone calls or emails to request a meeting. This personalized touch ensures that the providers we recommend are not only qualified but also actively committed to their practice. In fact, we have taken the extra step of meeting with a number of these providers to personally verify their legitimacy.
